The Aadhaar-enabled Biometric Attendance System (AeBAS) was introduced by the Department of Information Technology & Communication, Government of Nagaland, as part of its digital governance initiatives to improve attendance management and administrative accountability. The system was officially launched on 19th February 2016 during the AHOD/HOD meeting at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat.
AeBAS represents a major technological intervention to strengthen transparency, efficiency, and discipline in government offices through automated and reliable attendance monitoring. It represents a key step in digital governance, underscoring the government's commitment to technology-driven administrative improvements for state development.
The system has been effectively implemented at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, with Android tablets and PC-based fingerprint scanners deployed across various Departments and AHOD offices. A total of 1,762 employees is currently registered under AeBAS, ensuring systematic and automated attendance tracking. The Department operates a Biometric Control Room at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, staffed daily by personnel for system monitoring and quick technical resolutions.
