A workshop on North East BPO promotion scheme was jointly organized by the department of Information Technology & Communication of Nagaland in collaboration with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology(MeitY), Thursday,12th Oct at the New IT&C directorate building.
Joint secretary MeitY and director general NIELIT Rajiv Kumar in his keynote address deliberated on North East BPO promotion schemes which have specifically been developed with an aim to tap various talents.He said MeitY has keen interest on generating employment opportunities for local youths of Northeast as this part of the country had large number of youths who can fluently speak English. Kumar also asserted that it was high time that centre should utilize the available resources to the fullest so as to bring the North Eastern states at par with the rest of the states in the country.He acknowledged the tremendous leadership, efforts and skills put in by the department of IT&C Nagaland which has highlighted an output in better terms than the other North Eastern states. Kumar expressed his desire to talk with business investors on BPO to invest in North East and Nagaland in particular at a workshop which is to be held at Kolkata and in other platforms where ever possible.
In his brief presentation on North East BPO promotion scheme (NEBPS) joint director, MeitY, Rajeshwar Singh Jenwar elaborated on bidding process under the new scheme and mentioned that bidding process for setting up of new BPO/ITES industry was going on and could be accessed from the website www.eprocurement .gov.in. Under this NEPBS scheme he said centre would provide funding upto an amount of Rs. 1 lakhs per employment generated. He also congratulated the Nagaland BPO chapter for being a part of this scheme initiative under Digital India.A presentation on the ongoing BPO scheme was highlighted by CEO Ravi Sathi and MegsuozhuBelho BPO project manager M/s Infinity Informatic Pvt Ltd.
It can be mentioned that the present BPO was implemented by M/s Infinity Informatic Pvt Ltd in consortium with directorate of Information Technology & Communication, Nagaland, supported by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI).
